ZAGREB, Dec 6 (Hina) - The Government is determined not to abandon
its draft budget for next year amounting to 76.887 billion kuna and
has taken into account some parliamentary amendments partly or
entirely in its own amendments, defining ways to save or reallocate
funds, formulated at a session on Thursday.
The government amendments envisage an additional 100 million kuna
for the Regional Development Fund, 67 million more for the Justice
Ministry, and three million more for national minorities. For the
first time, budgetary funds have been set aside for obligations
from the Osimo and Rome agreements.
Twenty million kuna of budgetary funds have been set aside for the
payment of the first instalment of Croatia's debt to the optants
(esuli), Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac said.
An additional 16 million kuna have been re-allocated to cultural
institutions.
Funds for these changes have been saved from a series of budgetary
items, including those for the parliament and the ministries.
A total of 93.3 million kuna should be saved by slashing costs for
official trips, office stationery, and representation. Total
savings to be made by reducing various other budgetary items should
amount to 141 million kuna.
