SPLIT/ZAGREB, Nov 28 (Hina) - Journalist Zoran Vukman on Wednesday informed the press he had been dismissed yesterday from "Slobodna Dalmacija" daily because he had continued writing his column "Croatian Crossroads", which had been
forbidden in Slobodna Dalmacija, in "Hrvatsko slovo". The decision on the termination of his work contract says Vukman committed a grave violation of his duties as stipulated in the Collective Agreement, described as "competition to the employer and the work regulations"". The decision also says that Vukman had earlier been warned in written form about his impermissible cooperation with the weeklies "Fokus" and "Hrvatsko slovo". In his statement, Vukman said "the cause for his dismissal is his column 'Croatian Crossroads' which he continued writing for 'Hrvatsko slovo' as it was forbidden in 'Slobodna Dalmacija'," and claimed that in this weekly he continued writing what had been forbidden
SPLIT/ZAGREB, Nov 28 (Hina) - Journalist Zoran Vukman on Wednesday
informed the press he had been dismissed yesterday from "Slobodna
Dalmacija" daily because he had continued writing his column
"Croatian Crossroads", which had been forbidden in Slobodna
Dalmacija, in "Hrvatsko slovo".
The decision on the termination of his work contract says Vukman
committed a grave violation of his duties as stipulated in the
Collective Agreement, described as "competition to the employer
and the work regulations"".
The decision also says that Vukman had earlier been warned in
written form about his impermissible cooperation with the weeklies
"Fokus" and "Hrvatsko slovo".
In his statement, Vukman said "the cause for his dismissal is his
column 'Croatian Crossroads' which he continued writing for
'Hrvatsko slovo' as it was forbidden in 'Slobodna Dalmacija'," and
claimed that in this weekly he continued writing what had been
forbidden for him to write in his original paper. He concluded this
was "political repression" and the silencing of those who do not
think alike.
