9.5 million US dollars was collected, and "we expect various donors to double the amount," Vidovic told a news conference. About 150 participants from 34 countries and the Council of Europe, as well as representatives of many non-governmental and humanitarian organisations, took part in the conference organised by the Croatian government, the Croatian Mine Centre, the UN Development Programme and the World Bank. dollars was collected, and "we expect various donors to double the

There are still about 1.2 million mines on about 4,000 square
kilometres of land in Croatia. Croatia should be free of mines by
2010, for which a total of 9,576,400,000 kuna are needed (more than
one billion dollars).
