Tuesday received representatives of the Serb People's Council
(SNV), led by SNV President Milorad Pupovac.
After the meeting, Pupovac told reporters the talks tackled the
situation in the areas of special government concern, return of
property to Serb refugees, return of Serbs to their houses and the
Amnesty Law.
Speaking of the areas of special government concern, Pupovac
pointed to the importance of the successful ending of forming local
authorities and the overcoming of political divisions among ethnic
communities in order to achieve better life conditions in these
areas.
"According to some estimates, 30 to 40 percent of property was
occupied for no reason, namely the property was occupied by those
who already had several houses," Pupovac said. He explained that
even after the return of property to Serb refugees, conditions were
created for the accommodation of Bosnian Croats.
Serb representatives also requested the accelerated passing of
final verdicts for persons indicted for harshest violations of the
humanitarian law and war crimes at the beginning of the war. "The
judiciary needs to find a way out of the inflation of indictments
issued during the war or shortly after it," said Pupovac, adding
that war crime needed to be processed on stable legal grounds.
