MITREVA-POWELL TALK MACEDONIAN CRISIS

WASHINGTON, July 12 (Hina) - The Macedonian Foreign Minister, Ilinka Mitreva, expressed hope for political dialogue to bring a solution to the current crisis in this countryafter meeting Colin Powell, the American State Secretary, in Washington on Wednesday. Mitreva said the government in Skopje is determined to continue negotiations, respect the truce and ensure the voluntary disarmament of Albanian rebels, guaranteeing them amnesty. Powell expressed moderate satisfaction with and hope on the current political efforts in Macedonia. He said Europe and the United States will keep on supporting the negotiations which involve special representatives from Washington and Brussels, James Pardew and Francois Leotard. Mitreva hopes the process of political negotiating could speed up. The Powell-Mitreva talks also addressed the future deployment of NATO soldiers in Macedonia.
