ZAGREB, July 12 (Hina) - Croatia's Parliament on Thursday debated a package of laws on the revocation of the finance police. Deputy Finance Minister Damir Kustrak said the reason for this move was the overlapping of the fields of
activity and competence of the finance police, tax and customs administration and the foreign currencies inspectorate. The dissolution of the finance ministry will ease the burden on the shoulders of tax payers, and is a part of the planned rationalisation in the state administration, Kustrak said. The finance police collected annually about 400 million kuna, or just one percent of the state budget, he told the Sabor adding that of European Union member-countries, only Italy had this kind of police.(hina) sb ms
