ZAGREB, July 10 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Tuesday formally requested that the parliament hold an extraordinary session on July 18. Prime Minister Ivica Racan yesterday announced the government's plan to seek an extraordinary
parliament session. The request was motivated primarily by the need to adopt a package of laws on power which are necessary for the reform of the power sector and which should go into force next year. The package includes laws on power, on the regulation of power sectors, the electricity market and gas and oil markets. The government has also proposed that the parliament discuss and adopt changes to the Law on Telecommunications and laws on privatisation and privatisation of the Croatian Telecom.
