ZAGREB, July 5 (Hina) - Parliament bound the Judiciary Committee on Thursday to draw up a list of 11 candidates for the State Judicial Council (DSV) who will be proposed to parliament for election. Thirty-three candidates have been
proposed. Most benched agreed yesterday there was no need for parliament to consider them all, but that the Judiciary Committee should select 11 and propose them to parliament. MPs of the opposition's Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) objected, saying the Judiciary Committee could not propose candidates but only verify the candidacy procedure. The HDZ bench moved that parliament elect the DSV members by secret vote. In the next few days, the Judiciary Committee will select 11 candidates based on the opinion of the profession, and include among them at least two women.
