The latest developments in Macedonia have caused great concern among UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees), and although we are looking forward to a peaceful settlement of the crisis, the UNHCR, being an organisation in charge of refugees, are also prepared for the worst solution, a spokeswoman for the UNHCR in Pristina, Maki Shinohara, said on Thursday. In June, at least 50,000 ethnic Albanians, who fled Macedonia, arrived in Kosovo, and since the start of the clashes in February there had been 22 refugees in Kosovo. Those 72,000 refugees have mostly been accommodated with local families in their houses,

Kosovo.

Those 72,000 refugees have mostly been accommodated with local
families in their houses, but the social situation of ordinary
Kosovo citizens who welcomed refugees is bad and the UNHCR asked
foreign government to donate 17.5 million dollars as additional
assistance for the latest refugee wave from Macedonia.
