ZAGREB, July 6 (Hina) - Croatian school union "Preporod" today requested that more than 1,000 professors and teachers who will be left without jobs or lesser salaries due to the amendments to the law on principal and secondary
schools, be taken care of. Due to the annulment of bonuses in secondary schools and the curbing of the number of teaching departments in primary schools, numerous professors and teachers will lose a part of or their entire weekly norm. We thus ask of the government and the Education and Sports Ministry to pass a care programme, the union's president, Vinko Filipovic, told a news conference. If the government can find care programmes to solve the surplus employed at the interior and defence ministries, the financial police and Croatian Railways, then it should do so for teachers, Filipovic said.(hina) lml sb
