ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - The president of the Paneuropean Union association, Count Otto von Habsburg, said during talks with Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Monday his association would fully support Croatia's joining of the
European Union. Von Habsburg told reporters in Zagreb some Western politicians said Croatia should join certain regional initiatives before joining the EU, something he described as very dangerous. Croatia must not be bound by any inadequate conditions, particularly those which would chain it to the Balkans, the count said, adding the politicians making such suggestions were very influential but did not understand the essence of the issue. Croatia should join the EU as soon as possible and the Paneuropean Union will do everything to help its efforts, said von Habsburg. He is confident a bright future awaits Croatia.(hina) ha sb
