ZAGREB, June 13 (Hina) - There will be no surplus military employees at the Defence Ministry until the end of the year as all qualifying as such under a reorganisation plan will be provided with interim solutions before a new defence
law is adopted, a union of state and local employees said on Wednesday. A defence bill will be forwarded into parliamentary procedure in September. Its adoption is expected later in the year, which will be followed by a reorganisation of the armed forces. The bill envisages rationalisation in the defence and interior ministries and is being drafted in line with NATO standards. According to plan, early next year 20,000 surplus labour at the defence and 5,000 at the interior ministry will be laid off. Given that most are war veterans, their care will be up to the Veterans' Ministry.(hina) ha sb
