VUKOVA GORICA, May 22 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Tuesday the low turnout at Sunday's local election could be caused by the voters' dissatisfaction with the authorities' results as well as by the beautiful
weather last weekend. Commenting on the local election during a visit to the construction site of a section of the future Karlovac-Vukova Gorica highway, Mesic said the winners now faced talks on forming coalitions and municipal governments. Asked whether he was surprised with the success of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Mesic said he would not speculate about anyone's success as it remained to be seen yet how authority would be performed once agreement on municipal governments was reached. Commenting on the election results of the president of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Vesna Pusic, Mesic said her modern civic option had been recognised and accepted by a large number of voters.(hina
