SARAJEVO/BANJA LUKA, Feb (Hina) - Serb member in Bosnia's three-man
presidency, Zivko Radisic who is currently chairing that body, on
Tuesday accused U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Thomas
Miller, of interfering into Bosnia's internal affairs, and
announced he would launched procedure for removing Miller from the
ambassadorial post in Sarajevo.
At a news conference in the northwestern city of Banja Luka, Radisic
claimed that Ambassador Miller "exerts pressure, tries to
blackmail and organises secret meetings" in order to give support
to political parties which make up a coalition called "Alliance For
Changes" and help them to appoint their candidate for the premier-
designate of the state government (the Council of Ministers of
Bosnia-Herzegovina).
"Diplomatic officials have not come here to carry out personnel
policy and influence the electorate and media," Radisic
complained.
He pinned the blame on the incumbent American Ambassador Miller for
trying "at any cost to get (from the parliament) the confidence in
the Alliance's candidate for the premier-designate."
That's why the Bosnian state leadership will consider a possibility
for declaring Ambassador Miller persona non grata, he announced.
The US Embassy in Sarajevo on Tuesday afternoon refuted Radisic's
accusations.
The Embassy stated that all activities the Ambassador Thomas Miller
was taking were in accordance with his diplomatic responsibilities
and duties.
Ambassador Miller just as other diplomats in Bosnia hold regular
meetings with officials of the governments at the levels of state,
entities and municipalities in Bosnia as well as with
representatives of the opposition. These activities are completely
in compliance with responsibilities of every US Ambassador, read
the a statement the Embassy issued a few hours after Radisic's
conference in Banja Luka.
Besides, the new Administration in Washington has recently
confirmed it will retain Miller at the ambassadorial post in
Bosnia.
