congress of Esperantists from 21 to 28 July.#L#
The congress dedicated to the topic "The Culture of Dialogue -
Dialogue Among Cultures," will be held in Zagreb under the auspices
of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, the secretary of the Croatian
association for Esperanto (HSE), Spomenka Stimec, said at a news
conference a few days ago.
The Zagreb event, which the Croatian society will organise together
with the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA), will gather some
3,500 guests from 60 countries. Until the end of December, 130
participants from Croatia submitted their applications.
Stimec said the congress was sponsored by the Zagrebacka Bank and
certain financial assistance was provided by the Croatian
government as well.
Another two important events, scheduled together with the
congress, are the world congress of doctors-Esperantists in the
eastern city of Osijek and the meeting of Esperantist families in
the Istrian town of Savudrija.
Zagreb hosted the Esperanto congress in 1953 as well.
Esperanto speakers will celebrate the 100th anniversary of this
movement in 2005.
Stimec added that the Universal Esperanto Association was a
candidate for Nobel Peace Award in 2001.
