DISABLED WORKERS' ASSOCIATION DISSATISFIED WITH BILL ON ASSOCIATIONS

ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - The Croatian Association of Disabled Workers is not completely satisfied with the bill on associations the Croatian government sent into parliamentary procedure on Thursday, the association's legal advisor Ivo Mohoric told Hina on Friday. Mohoric explained the bill did not meet the association's basic demands. During a public debate, which was organised in the second half of last year, the association requested that the bill on associations include special status for disabled persons' associations, believing that those associations cannot compete with other associations for budgetary funds on an equal basis. Disabled persons' associations deal with more serious problems than associations for the protection of "song birds," he said. Disabled persons' associations need those funds more, Mohoric said, adding there was a possibility the association might request that the status of disabled persons' associations be regulated with a separate law. The association is satisfied with positive progress that has been made with the bill, especially with regulations which facilitate the registration of associations with the Justice Ministry, Mohoric added.
