"We are stable in macroeconomic as well as in political terms, and
what we now have to do is to enable people to feel (stability) in
their pockets. We are to increase salaries in the public and state
sector, and the fact that unemployment has been falling for nine
months in a row will facilitate our plans too," Racan said.
"If business people are optimists, we, too, have reason to be
optimists," he said recalling the results of last week's opinion
poll, conducted among business people by the journal "Privredni
Vjesnik".
Asked to comment on the statement of Zagreb Archbishop Josip
Bozanic on corruption as a key societal problem, the premier said
corruption was an evil which unfortunately marked every country,
and expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the fight against
corruption in Croatia.
