"It is not possible to make significant corrections at the same
time, but this does not mean that the government will not address
other priorities," Vice Premier Goran Granic said after his
negotiations with unionists.
The government is going to secure additional 200 million kuna (some
27 million euros) for the salaries in the schooling system, he
said.
Wages of other civil servants will be the same, i.e. with the basic
wage amounting to 4.230 kuna (570 euros).
The unions accepted the government's proposal for a Christmas bonus
of 500 kuna (EUR67.29), while bonuses for children are 400 kuna
(EUR54) and holiday cash grant 600 kuna (EUR80).
Teachers' unions assert that unions of workers in public health and
social welfare have agreed to salaries rising only in education.
