ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - The Government on Tuesday offered public service unions a minimum wage rise for next year as well as the retention of all other material rights at this year's level. #L# The government offered an increase on wages by 2.5 per cent of which 1.5 percent would be an increase in basic wages and 1.5 per cent would be a correction of quotas. Christmas bonuses and gifts for children would be as n last year's amount of 33.33 euros (250 kuna per child) and jubilee awards would remain at 233.33 euros, the government proposed. "These are the real possibilities in the society and the government would be frivolous if it were to offer any more," Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic said following negotiations with the unions. The leader of public service unions, Ivica Ihas, was disappointed with that offer. The unions are seeking an increase of 19 per cent on the current basic salary of 564.25 euros which would amount to 666.66 euros. The unions are asking for an increase in quotas of 12 per cent and a Christmas bonus of 133.33 euros and children's gift of 53.33 euros and jubilee awards of 253.33 euros. The next round of negotiations is announced in one week's time. (hina) sp sb
