The government today extended this benefit to the purchase of land
for house-building of up to 600 square metres.
Moreover, all those who are currently solving their residency
issues by purchasing a house or flat, but have not yet received any
notification from the Tax Administration, will also be exempt from
paying the tax.
The parliament today also amended laws regulating the salaries of
state and justice officials, and judges, and bound the government
to, by April 13, secure the said officials a 0.5 percent bonus for
every working year, most the biggest amount being 20 percent.
MPs requested that this become effective as of the beginning of
2003, the parliament adopted Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic's
suggestion that the amendments come into effect by mid-April.
According to the amendments, officials salaries will no longer be
calculated based on the net salary base (2,841 kuna), but based on
gross salary base (4,232 kuna). Officials will have tax benefits
the same as all other citizens.
The parliament decided to send a bill on the protection of personal
data into the next, third reading.
