"However, all who believe they should put forward a proposal to be
discussed by parliament can do so in line with parliamentary
procedure, i.e. explain their proposal and submit it to the
parliament president," Tomcic said.
The joint parliamentary bench of the Croatian People's Party,
Primorje-Gorski Kotar Party and the Croatian Party of Slavonija and
Baranja today sent a letter to Tomcic, asking him to initiate
proceedings to relieve Zdravko Tomac of duty as chairman of the
Foreign Affairs Committee and ask the Social Democratic Party to
nominate another candidate for the post.
The bench believes that Tomac's recent statements advocate the
policy of late Croatian President Franjo Tudjman towards Bosnia-
Herzegovina, which, the letter notes, is diametrically opposed to
the stands of the ruling coalition which the chairman of the Foreign
Affairs Committee is supposed to represent.
