to Croatia's interests.

believes the amendment to the Law on Income Tax reducing the non-
taxable part in the salaries of employees in areas of special state
concern is unacceptable and detrimental to Croatia's interests.

The change will cut the salaries of employees in areas of special
state concern by 10%, which will make living conditions in those
areas even more difficult, the union claims.
The change will affect employees in primary and secondary schools
the most and cause emigration.
"We propose that the salaries of employees in schools and health
institutions in areas of special state concern be increased by 30-
50% to stimulate qualified people to stay, thus creating conditions
for the systematic revitalisation of those areas in demographic and
economic sense," reads the union statement, signed by leader Vinko
Filipovic.
