The basket, that included food costs, spending for hygienic items,
clothing, rents and housing, transport and culture, totalled 7,586
kuna (EUR1,021) in Bol on the island of Brac (the highest amount),
and 6,658 kuna (EUR896) in the capital Zagreb. Other towns with
higher expenses than Zagreb were Dubrovnik, Osijek, Split and
Rijeka.
The average salary covers 51.83 percent of the basket, or 0.8
percent less than a month ago. This fall was caused by a decrease of
1.74 percent in average wages.
The NHS basked did not include costs for education, health,
holidays or sporting activities, and it assumed that the family was
without new-borns and without a personal car.
