Annan will stay in Zagreb only about 24 hours, during which he will
attend the unveiling of a monument to UN members who lost their
lives in the area of the former Yugoslavia. The monument has been
erected in the part of the Pleso airport (outside Zagreb) where the
first UNPROFOR headquarters had been set up ten years ago.
Croatian officials expect that the talks with the UN Secretary-
General will revolve around the peninsula of Prevlaka and the
upcoming completion of a decade-long UN mission in that part of the
country.
One of the topics at the talks will probably be cooperation between
Zagreb and the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague. Cooperation with
the ICTY marked the talks Annan held in Bosnia and Yugoslavia.
