The OSCE Mission welcomes this first step towards the introduction
of the concept of community police in Croatia and will help the
Interior Ministry develop a successful programme, Semneby said in a
statement issued by the Mission.
The Ministry's police directorate will start activities from the
project in four police stations in Zagreb, Split, Sisak and
Pozega.
Semneby said the Mission would continue being available for help to
the police directorate and the heads of local police departments in
order to support organisation reforms which were essential for the
success of the project.
Semneby reminded that the Mission was included in the process of
providing and co-ordinating other international assistance to
Croatian police in developing partnership relations with the
community, the main goal being the decrease of crime. Current
partners in this endeavour are Germany, Great Britain and the
United States.
