NEW YORK, Oct 10 (Hina) - The UN Security Council is holding consultations on the termination of a UN mission of military observers on the Croatian peninsula of Prevlaka on Thursday. On Thursday afternoon local time, talks will be
held with the diplomatic representatives of the 22 states the Prevlaka observers come from. This morning, the session was closed to the public. UN spokesman Fred Eckhard briefly said it tackled a report on Prevlaka by Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who proposed that the UN mission end by Dec. 15 at the latest and that its 27 observers leave Croatia by the end of the year. As in the current Security Council resolution, Annan's proposal leaves room for the possibility that the UN mission on Prevlaka end before Dec. 15 if in the meantime the two sides, Croatia and Yugoslavia, reach an agreement on the matter.
