ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - The meeting which the parliament's
presidency and representatives of the parliamentary benches will
focus on the relations between Croatia and the Hague-based UN
tribunal, is scheduled for 01.00 pm Thursday, the office of the
Sabor President said today. #L#
The meeting should have been held last Friday but was postponed ,
given that a Vice Premier, Goran Granic, who is the head of the
council for cooperation with the ICTY, was abroad and Premier Ivica
Racan could not attend the session due to his busy schedule.
The discussion on the issue should be held within an initiative
launched by the opposition HDZ party on changes of the
constitutional law on cooperation with the said tribunal.
The relations with the tribunal have become a major political topic
since the tribunal's prosecution issued an indictment against
General Janko Bobetko some twenty days ago.
On 27 September the Sabor discussed the indictment, and unanimously
hailed the government's activities and intention to embark on the
legal dispute with the UN court due to the character of the Bobetko
indictment.
