According to a statement issued by Mesic's Office, political
committee vice chairman Donald Anderson said Croatia's niche was in
EuroAtlantic integration processes, and in this context he pointed
to the importance of the reorganisation of the armed forces and the
adoption of other democratic values.
He described the respect for human rights and the return of refugees
as key elements in the further political assessment of Croatia's
bids to enter NATO.
President Mesic said those were processes on which Zagreb was
insisting for its own sake, and that conditions had been created for
the fulfilment of those requirements.
French Ambassador to Croatia Francis Bellanger was present at the
meeting.
