Following today's closed-door session of the Committee, Jerovsek
would not answer reporters' questions, including the one on whether
his claim that Croatian secret services were involved in the latest
events in Piran Bay had proven true. He only said that the Slovene
secret services were "definitely" capable of keeping up with the
Croatian intelligence.
Two days ago Jerovsek said that Slovene parliamentarians were not
sufficiently informed about the problem of Piran Bay and that it was
possible Croatia had a detailed plan to destabilise Slovenia and
its prospects of joining Euro-Atlantic associations.
The Slovene parliamentary Committee on the Supervision of Secret
Services discussed at today's session "the role, interests and
activities of foreign intelligence services in the escalation of
incidents in Piran Bay and deterioration of relations between
Slovenia and Croatia".
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Anton Grizold,
Interior Minister Rado Bohinc, the head of the Slovene intelligence
service, SOVA, Iztok Podbregar, and the head of the military
intelligence, Zoran Klemencic. Although they had been invited,
Parliament President Borut Pahor and the head of the Committee on
External Affairs, Jelko Kacin, did not attend the session.
