KNIN, Sept 4 (Hina) - The Association of Croats who moved from
Drvar, western Bosnia, to Knin, southern Croatia, will forward a
demand to Premier Ivica Racan and President Stjepan Mesic to
urgently resolve their status or to help them emigrate to third
countries. #L#
If this demand is not fulfilled, all Croats from Drvar who are
currently located in Golubic near Knin, will begin a hunger strike
was the conclusion of a meeting of the Association's leaders.
Golubic is currently the home of 87 Croats from Drvar amongst whom
thirty are children.
According to Nikola Gvozdenovic, the president of the Association
of Croats from Drvar, they have been in Croatia for six months
already and they all have Croatian papers but not one has managed to
obtain health insurance nor confirmation of residency which is
vital to obtain health care.
It was pointed out that two elderly and ill people are also
currently located in Golubic and because their status has not been
resolved they are not being offered medical treatment.
Gvozdenovic emphasises that the Croatian government should explain
whether Croats from Drvar are welcome in Croatia or if not, they
should be allowed to emigrate to third countries because they
neither wish nor are able to return to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
