The meeting, as well as today's talks over the phone, aims at
stopping the escalation of conflicts, finding a solution to the
current situation and incidents in Piran Bay, Racan told reporters.
The two officials will also agree on a possible long-term solution
to open border issues.
The Croatian Prime Minister said that one of the long-term solution
to be discussed at the meeting could be arbitration, adding,
however, both countries must reach an agreement first.
Racan said that two working groups for the border (Croatian and
Slovenian) had already defined and agreed on the solution to the
land border. According to him, the only contentious issues are
seven kilometres to the border and the border in Piran Bay.
Those issues are likely to go to arbitration, Racan said.
He said that in his opinion chances for arbitration were very good,
and added that arbitration was not damaging the dignity of neither
Slovenia nor Croatia in any way.
The Croatian Prime Minister could not specify when he would meet
Drnovsek. He said he would announce the place and the date of the
meeting in a few days.
