LJUBLJANA, Aug 14 (Hina) - Contentious issues relating to fishing rights that lead to incidents in the Piran Bay should be resolved within the framework of the diplomatic commission for the implementation of the agreement on local

The contentious fishing issue should be resolved within the
framework of the agreement on local border traffic and co-operation
and it would be worthwhile for talks to continue as long as a
solution is not found, a statement issued by Drnovsek's cabinet
said noting that Croatia's Prime Minister Ivica Racan agreed.
The statement continues that the two premiers will continue
dialogue because the two neighbouring countries need to develop
good neighbourly and friendly relations and that any incidents that
may deteriorate this made no sense and should be avoided.
In that regard, incidents in Piran Bay are not useful for either
side and should be avoided in an attempt to calm the situation and to
continue dialogue on open bilateral issues.
