As Sloveve Radio reported, during a closed meeting there was
mention of an agreement between Minister Rupel and Croatia's
Foreign Minister Tonino Picula that a combined commission to
implement the border agreement on traffic and cooperation should
meet as soon as possible.
The Sloveve side, as is known, considers that the section of the
agreement that refers to fishing should allow Sloveve fishermen to
fish in Croatian territorial waters which would then decrease
tension over the Piran Bay issue. In that regard, Sloveve observers
are waiting cautiously to see what Minister Picula will say to
Croatian fishermen from Istria at an announced meeting on Tuesday.
The agreement, Slovenia claims, that the only contentious issue
relating to the fishing section of the border agreement is the
visual form of fishing licences and the amount of fish that Sloveve
fishermen will be permitted to catch in Croatian waters.
