Any further escalation of relations in Piran Bay in the northern
Adriatic will severely damage the reputations of both Croatia and
Slovenia, good neighbourly relations between them, as well as peace
and stability in this part of Europe, Jakovcic told reporters in
Pula.
Jakovcic said he would discuss the international arbitration
initiative with Prime Minister Ivica Racan later today.
Last week Istrian county police reported that Slovene fishermen had
trespassed into Croatian territorial waters in Piran Bay on three
occasions. Slovene police claimed there were no incursions.
