ZAGREB, July 31 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's credentials and
privileges commission on Wednesday accepted the requests of Jozo
Rados and Hrvoje Kraljevic for the re-activation of their term of
office as members of the Sabor. #L#
Their term of office as MPs was suspended while they performed
duties as ministers of defence and science.
Independent liberals Rados and Kraljevic, who are former members of
the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), will thus return to
parliamentary benches and this mean the end of the term of office of
their deputies in the parliament, Hrvoje Zoric (HSLS) and Drago
Novina (Social Democrat) respectively.
With the appointment of Ante Simonic (Croatian Peasant Party or
HSS) member) and Gordana Sobol (Social Democrat) in the new
government, their term of office as MPs become inactive. Simonic
and Sobol will be replaced in the Sabor by Marijan Macina (HSS) and
Boris Mahac (SDP) respectively.
The commission's decisions should be added to the agenda of the
ongoing extraordinary parliamentary session in the course of the
day, and they will go into force upon being adopted by the Sabor as
well.
Drazen Budisa and Mario Kovac of the HSLS, who resigned from the
government, have not yet asked for the re-activation of their term
of office as MPs.
They left the parliamentary benches for ministerial offices in
March, and they will be able to request the return to Sabor in
September, given that the suspension of the term of office of
parliamentarians cannot be shorter than six months.
