ZAGREB, July 29 (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Ministry (MVP RH) on Monday estimated that it was unacceptable that Bosnia-Herzegovina make the arrival of the police at the site of the border crossing and the commencement of the joint
work of border services conditional on the signing of an annex to an agreement on joint locations and a protocol on a final solution for the border crossing by Hrvatska Kostajnica.

On Saturday, Sarajevo sent an official note to Zagreb in which it
opposed announcements that the Croatian border police would cross
the space between the Una and Uncica rivers prior to the signing of
the draft annex to the agreement and a protocol.
Croatia's Foreign Ministry responded to Sarajevo on July 27 in
which it notes that in compliance to announcements of July 25,
Croatian services in charge of the construction of the crossing
would commence their work on the Hrvatska Kostajnica - Bosanska
Kostajnica crossing on Monday July 29 at 2 p.m.
Croatia's ministry in its note to Bosnian foreign ministry of July
25 offered to open check points in Hrvatska Kostajnica which would
serve as a transitional solution for the local population until an
international crossing was set up. This would in some way establish
some form of border regime.
Unfortunately the Bosnian side was not interested even though this
would have contributed to building mutual trust and good
neighbourly relations between the neighbouring towns, a statement
issued by the Croatian ministry said.
The Croatian Government is prepared to sign the Annex to the
Agreement on Joint Locations prior to the opening of the border
crossing with a note that this cannot be set as a pre-condition for
Croatia's border police to take up their positions on the site of
the future border crossing which is located on Croatian territory,
the MVP RH said. It further informed that it would on time notify the
Bosnian Council of Ministers of the deployment of Croatian border
police at the site of the future border crossing.
