The delegations, headed by assistant Croatian Foreign Minister
Josko Paro and chairman of the Bosnian Council of Ministers Dragan
Mikerevic expressed good will to open a border crossing in one
common location on the Uncica river on the Croatian territory.
They also agreed to the unquestionableness of the border between
the two countries in the area of Hrvatska Kostajnica - Bosanska
Kostajnica, in keeping with an Agreement on the State Border
between the Croatia and Bosnia, signed in 1999.
The two sides agreed on the text of an Annex to the Agreement on
Joint Locations at Border Crossings. The exact location of the
border crossing will be determined when blueprints are made up for
the checkpoint.
The Croatian delegation rejected a proposal by the Bosnian
delegation on the construction of a beltway for Bosanska Kostajnica
and proposed a plan for a combined beltway for both towns which
would include the construction of a new bridge.
Considering that the Bosnian Council of Ministers would meet on
Thursday, July 25, 2002, to discuss the matter, it was decided that
there would be no unilateral measures taken before then.
If the Council of Ministers accepts the Annex, the relevant bodies
in Croatia will immediately begin with the work and prepare the
border crossing which could be opened in about 15 days, the
Ministry's statement said.
