The Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) leader, Zlatko Tomcic, who was the
first to leave the premises, together with Liberal Party (LS)
leader Zlatko Kramaric, refused to give any statement to reporters
in front of the building.
Reporters, however, managed to persuade Kramaric to answer some
questions.
The LS head said the negotiators had reached a situation in which
they should define a concept and purpose of the coalition.
The coalition is not in question, he said, answering a question
whether the coalition was in crisis.
Kramaric reiterated that the concept of big and small parties
should be abandoned, and urged that all members of the coalition
must be included in decision-making relating to economic and other
important issues.
Jozo Rados, a representative of the Independent Liberals, was very
reserved with reporters. He neither confirmed nor denied media
allegations that the negotiations had hit an impasse regarding the
potential personnel for some posts. Rados only said there were many
open issues.
According to Kramaric, a programme for the new government's work
has been elaborated and adopted. An agreement on a new
parliamentary majority has also been reached.
