the Dalai-Lama, said during his lecture in the sports' hall in Zagreb on Monday evening.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, who arrived in
Zagreb from Split on Monday morning, spoke about the topic "Ethics
for A New Millennium" in the overcrowded hall.
This 1989 Nobel Prize Winner commented on the recent war in Croatia,
and asserted that dialogue should lead to the reconciliation.
Love for the motherland and one's own people is a good feeling, but
it is necessary to free oneself of a surplus of emotions and
distance oneself from it and look at things in a different manner,
the Dalai Lama said.
He added that non-violence was more effective way for the
resolution of problems than violence.
Th Buddhist spiritual head urged the gradual demilitarisation of
the world and appealed on people to work on their inner peace as a
precondition for a long-term peaceful society and happy families
and individuals.
At the end of his lecture he thanked the audience for great
attention and concentration with which they listened to him.
