The "Storm" operation was an illustrious victory for the Croatian
army and people in liberating territory, Stipetic said.
He denounced claims that the action was planned and prepared by US
intelligence services and military advisers.
The action was planned, prepared and carried out by the Croatian
army General Staff, he said.
He warned that the Croatian army should not be deprived of what was
good, honourable and professional like the "Storm" action.
General Stipetic recalled that Branjenici, near Glina, was the site
where the 21st Corps of the occupying Serb forces was conducted
including the commander of those forces Cedomir Bulat.
He estimated that this was the Croatia's greatest armed victory in
the entire Homeland War. He added that the surrender of enemy forces
can only serve to the honour and pride of the Croatian army as it was
conducted without one incident of unmilitary conduct.
Reflecting on the meaning of the action to the Homeland War and the
defence of Croatia, Stipetic mentioned that not one crime was
committed during the operation and the entire event was conducted
in an organised military fashion.
