The deputy of the international High Representative to Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Donald Hays, on Friday wrote to the Bosnian
ministerial council's chairman, Dragan Mikerevic, and Foreign
Trade Minister Azra Hadziahmetovic, informing them that French
soldiers would start withdrawing from the Sarajevo airport next
month, but civilian authorities have so far done nothing to ensure
the take-over of the control of the airport.
There is a possibility that the civilian sector of the airport be
closed for commercial flights in January 2003, Ambassador Hays
warned.
The Office of the High Representative (OHR) asks the Bosnian
Council of Ministers to change the legislation in order to ensure
efficient administration in the Civilian Aviation Agency and to
appoint a director-general of the airport.
It also advises the purchase of a radar set, informing the Bosnian
government that the existent one is owned by the French SFOR
(Stabilisation Force) contingent and French troops will take it
back.
