BELGRADE, June 10 (Hina) - The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security, Javier Solana, and Yugoslav, Serbian and Montenegrin top officials issued a joint declaration following a meeting on Monday in
Belgrade. In the declaration the signatories call on members of the Constitutional Commission to without delay begin to prepare a constitutional charter of the future community.
BELGRADE, June 10 (Hina) - The High Representative of the European
Union for Foreign Affairs and Security, Javier Solana, and
Yugoslav, Serbian and Montenegrin top officials issued a joint
declaration following a meeting on Monday in Belgrade. In the
declaration the signatories call on members of the Constitutional
Commission to without delay begin to prepare a constitutional
charter of the future community. #L#
Solana met with Yugoslav and Montenegrin presidents Vojislav
Kostunica and Milo Dukanovic, deputy prime minister of the federal
government Miroljub Labus, Montenegrin and Serbian Prime Ministers
Filip Vujanovic and Zoran Dindic, President of the Council of
Citizens of the Federal Assembly, Dragoljub Micunovic and Yugoslav
Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic.
Participants in the talks welcomed a decision by the Montenegrin
and Serbian assemblies and federal assembly to adopt the starting
basis for the reorganisation of relations between Serbia and
Montenegro.
They welcomed the appointment of a Commission to formulate a
constitutional charter which must obtain the highest level of
consensus which will make it easier to be adopted in the assembly.
Alongside the constitutional charter activities will commence to
come up with models of trade and customs policies and the
establishment of a joint market for Serbia and Montenegro.
The participants in Monday's talks welcomed the EU's readiness to
step in if need be with advice and expertise.
