"We will continue the work as early as Monday," the president of the
Social Democratic Party and Prime Minister, Ivica Racan, said after
Saturday's four-hour talks.
The president of the Croatian Peasants' Party, Zlatko Tomcic, said
that the presidents of the five parties would meet next week with
members of parliamentary committees and competent ministers to
discuss about 20 topics. He, however, did not speak about the topics
in detail.
The president of the Croatian People's Party, Vesna Pusic, said
they would discuss laws in the parliament procedure, and the so-
called permanent topics - the electoral law and the constitutional
law on minorities.
Regarding early elections, the five-party coalition heads said
they did not advocate such a solution.
Racan said the coalition leaders agreed to seriously try to
continue they joint work.
The president of the Croatian Social Liberal Party and first Deputy
Prime Minister, Drazen Budisa, did not wish do give any comments on
today's meeting. He briefly told reporters he was satisfied with
the talks.
The latest conflict within the ruling coalition began about ten
days ago when the five parties parted because of a government's
proposal on bridge toll on the Krk bridge. Tomcic told reporters
that "the issue today was used to illustrate the unnecessary way of
the function of the coalition."
