HZ employees will receive average monthly gross salaries of 5,370
kuna (735.6 euros) this year, and their wages will thus reach the
state's average, the management's chairman, Marijan Drempetic
said.
The company should ensure the money supply of 1.054 billion kuna
(EUR 144 million) for salaries of its 16,300 workers in 2002.
The new collective agreement stipulates the accident insurance and
additional health insurance to be paid by the employer.
This document is the first to regulate the payment of salaries in a
systematic manner.
The deal was signed by the railway union, engine drivers' union,
infrastructure employees' union and train dispatchers' union.
Two minor unions, which represent employees in non-basic
activities, refused to sign the document. They insisted on a 10-
percent increase in wages because of the difficult conditions of
work.
