ZAGREB, June 10 (Hina) - The Croatian Railways (HZ) managing
board's president Marijan Drempetic on Monday said the strike
announced by three HZ unions for 12 June would not substantially
disturb the traffic by rail. #L#
The HZ will meet its commitments in the transport of passengers and
cargo, Drempetic said at a news conference.
Last Thursday three Croatian Railways (HZ) unions announced they
would organise a four-hour warning strike on June 12, because even
after a conciliation meeting their reasons for strike had not been
removed. The unionists announced that passenger and cargo
transport would be stopped from 9am to 1pm on the following
Wednesday. #L#
According to the unions, they gather 3,850 of the total 16,000 HZ
employees.
The HZ management said they gathered 2,024 workers.
The unions that will go on strike are dissatisfied with the
management's refusal to accept their demand for an increase in
salaries of some groups of workers.
Last Thursday the HZ management refused union requests that the
collective agreement with their suggestions apply as of May 1, not
June 1 as the management offered.
The remaining four unions which last Wednesday initialled a draft
collective agreement will not join the strike.
