projects financed by the bank in Croatia was being carried out well,

Linic and Deputy Finance Minister Damir Kustrak are participating
at the annual assembly of the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD) in Bucharest.
On Sunday they met EIB vice-president Ewald Nowotny, EIB director
for Mediterranean countries, non-members of the EU, Antonello
Pugliese, and the head of EIB's department for the Balkans and
Turkey.
EIB representatives showed special interest in large projects
which are being planned in Croatia.
Linic said that the most important project for Croatia at the moment
is the construction of highways, for which it counts on EIB's loan
support.
He said that Croatia was also preparing projects for the use of
Croatian harbours Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Ploce Harbour, which
will become economically interesting as regional economic
cooperation develops.
The first of ten projects in which the EIB has become involved with a
EUR40 million loan to Croatian Railways, is the project of
reconstruction of the infrastructure and modernisation of the
security system at the Vc corridor, whose overall value is EUR96.62
million.
With a EUR60 million loan to the Croatian Roads company, the EIB is
participating in the financing of the project of reconstruction and
maintaining state roads. The overall value of this project is
EUR422 million).
By way of the Croatian bank for Reconstruction and Development
(HBOR), the EIB has granted Croatia a global loan of EUR10 million
for the project of reconstruction and construction of municipal
services infrastructure, and for the development of tourism and
small and middle-scale businesses.
The EIB has granted Croatia two loans in the commercial sector and
without the government's guarantee: a global EUR20 million loan to
the Hypovereinsbank, and a global EUR36 million loan to the
Privredna Banka Zagreb.
