"We are dealing with a case of money laundering with regional
dimensions. We estimate that over 100 million marks have been
laundered through this channel," Maslesa told reporters in
Sarajevo on Monday.
The minister refused to disclose the identity of the arrested man or
details about his activities.
Sarajevo media have earlier reported that the man registered two
'phantom' companies in Bosnia which served as an alibi for
fictional export and import.
Minister Maslesa said the apprehension was part of intensified
activities which the federal police were taking in the fight
against organised crime.
A similar operation was carried out in central Bosnia last week when
five persons, involved in drug trafficking, were nabbed. Two of the
arrested persons were policemen working on the prevention of
narcotics dealing.
