SARAJEVO, April 10 (Hina) - A former agent of the Bosnian Agency for
Investigation and Documentation (AID) and, until recently, the
director of an humanitarian aid organisation, "Bosnian Ideal
Future" (BIF), Munib Zahiragic, illegally possessed secret
documents that relate to African and Asian citizens suspected of
being involved in terrorism. #L#
The Sarajevo "Dnevni avaz" daily on Wednesday reported that Bosnian
Federation police conducted a two-week investigation on the
activities of BIF and in the director's garage found over 80 files
classified as "Strictly Confidential", and "State Secret".
All the documents related to persons suspected of having come to
Bosnia with questionable intentions.
BIF became the centre of investigation after they had been pointed
out by US authorities as suspicious and a possible source of
financial and logistic support for radical Islamic organisations,
including the Al-Qaida.
Attempts by AID to effectively monitor potential Islamic
terrorists in Bosnia were doomed to fail because it was Zahiragic
who in fact was in charge of obtaining this information.
Should he be proven guilty, he could be sentenced to at least three
years in prison.
