After meeting Petritsch at his Sarajevo office, Prodi told
reporters it was thanks to Petritsch's three-year work in Bosnia
that the country had a future in Europe.
Prodi, however, said Bosnia had a lot more to do before joining the
EU.
"The condition for our future together is the reorganisation of
Bosnian institutions," he said, adding this task was to be taken
seriously.
Bosnia must be ready to change and adopt the rules of conduct valid
in Europe as joining the European family of nations is the only
logical way out for Bosnia, said Prodi.
Petritsch said it was very significant the EU continued to offer
assistance to Bosnia, augmenting it while the rest of the
international community was decreasing it.
By sending its police early next year, the EU is assuming the very
important task of establishing a full rule of law in Bosnia, said
Petritsch.
