The laid-off police yesterday submitted a request for a meeting
with government officials after three of their representatives
left a government commission set up to deal with the problem of
unassigned police.
Lacic said that one more protester who along with 11 other
protesters went on a hunger strike on March 26 today discontinued
the strike on doctor's advice. Four former policemen have continued
the strike, Lacic said, adding that around 50 former policemen were
protesting in front of the government today.
Explaining the action of the protesters' representatives at
yesterday's meeting in the government, Lacic said the commission
changed a previous agreement under which the status of hunger
strikers was to be regulated first. The commission decided that the
problem of unassigned police should be resolved according to the
alphabetical order by police departments, which he said the
representatives could not accept.
